Throwback Jam - by Erykah Badu

Erykah Badu

Now ya'll know I love me some good music. I thought I'd start tuning you guys into some of my favs. It's something about this song that's had a hold on me since its release in 1997. Erykah Badu smoked this one. "Other Side Of The Game" was released on the Baduizm album as the third single from the album. The song was initially a commercial release in Japan, followed by number 14 spot on US R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart, spending a total of 20 weeks on the chart.

"What you gonna' do when they come for you? Work ain't honest but it pays the bills."

The music video for Other Side Of The Game featured Erykah's then husband Andre 3000. While I didn't know they were an item at the time, it was something about their chemistry in the 6-minute visual story that gave me couple. Halfway into the video, we get a preview of "Rim Shot", also off of the Baduizm (1997) album. Still young at the time I was singing Rim Shot strong, not even knowing its meaning.

Check out the chemistry and "Rim Shot" here:
